JP's Pizza

We were in the area and based on reviews and photos, this place was our target for food (and for something different). Very nondescript building (we almost missed it as we were driving); just look for the word Pizza. We ordered a cheese pizza with mushrooms. The gentleman at the window taking our order seemed quite busy and a little impatient when asked questions that we didn't think were problematic and just wanted to know: how long will the wait be...do you have a bathroom? FYI, no bathroom so plan accordingly. They had a handful of picnic tables you can eat at, and it seems there were as many take-out orders as eat-in orders. The pizza came out in the time frame estimated in a white 'to go' box. It was hot and looked like a true New York pizza. It was a little well done; not sure that's how they normally cook them or if they just left it in a little too long. It was as close as you can get to a pizza in New York City without being there. There was the requisite little pool of grease on the top, the sauce was spot on and the cheese was perfectly gooey. The slice was foldable to some extent, but the overdone edges cracked instead of bended when we executed the fold. Would have liked more mushrooms on the pie, but ain't complaining. We didn't see any of the usual 'toppings' like red pepper flakes, garlic, oregano, Parmesan, but we were offered plates and napkins for our eat-in experience. Reasonably priced and authentic taste. Not something you'd expect on Kauai.

Support and eat local!!! Great service and amazing NY style pizza! Flavor, crust, texture... Everything was perfect. I will be returning every time I visit Kauai!! Worth the 25 min drive from Poipu. Oh, take out only. They have picnic tables out front of you want to eat there.

I don't get the opportunity to come here as often as I would like since I live on the other side of the island but every time I go the west side I add this place to my schedule. I love the story behind the business and I love supporting small family owned businesses especially with someone so young. It's very impressive. The pizza is amazing, so far we've tried the white pizza and the pepperoni and I think the combo is

On our Captain J's Kauai Whale Watching tour, our first mate, Matt, encouraged us to go to JPs Pizza. They are extremely friendly and service oriented. Any time i went to the window to ask questions, he called me by name. Everything is fresh made. We had the supreme pizza with the fresh veggies. It was really good. The seating is all outside at picnic tables which was nice except there wasn't shade for the majority of the tables. Check their dates and times because they don't open until 1:00 pm. We also would have preferred small pieces. While you are waiting for your fresh made pizza, you should wonder down to the book store to browse the collection of new and used books. We picked up some for reading on the beach and the flight home.

We found JPs via google reviews and wow, the pizza was simply outstanding. We live in the Chicagoland area and we've had some great pizza. JP's is some of the very best pizza we've ever had. Super fresh ingredients and outstanding flavors. We enjoyed it so much we went back a second time on the last day of our trip. JP's Dad was working the counter and he was so nice to us and to every customer. JP knows pizza so don't miss out on something amazing.

Not enough great things can be said! In the morning we pulled off the road for some doughnuts next door. Noticed a little window and thought maybe we could get an iced coffee. Delighted by the service and the delicious coffee we discovered we could come back for pizza. After our canyon hike we were starved but came back. We got the Rancher which is literally perfection. Perfect proportions and balance of ingredients. I wish we had something like this close to home.
